WWII U.S. Army Airborne Paratrooper Parachute WINGS Plaque- USMC, 9"-"BraSS

Petie just found today a pair of the brass wings, parachute and the glider.. listing them now under two different auctions!

This is a WWII Paratrooper WING Plaque in Antique Brass.

A very hard to find plaque which we researched and found these were made in the 1970's. The maker was P. M. BALDWIN, PLAINFIELD NJ. and "ONLY" the parachute wings have the makers name raised in the rear side, "not the Glider wings" even though both sets of wings are from the same maker.

The Plaque has an Antique Brass finish, as in the photos. Has two bolt studs, washers and nuts on the rear for attaching.

The plaque design is on line at many US Army Museums through out the country. We did research and found out:

SYMBOLISM: The wings suggest flight and together with the parachute symbolize individual skills and qualifications in airborne units. At the time authorization announced, personnel must have been assigned or attached to an airborne unit or to the Airborne Department of the Infantry School; satisfactorily completed a course of instruction .
